Halloween Activity #5: Spider Web Embroidery Hoop

Our last activity of the week is the easiest by far.  You need an embroidery hoop (you can find cheap wooden ones in a craft store) and some string.  I bought the smallest hoop.  Then you unscrew the tightener and pull out the inside hoop.  Tape the end of the string to one side and then wrap all around randomly.  When it looks like a web, tape the other string end down, then place the inside hoop back in and tighten the screw.  Voila--instant spider web!  I also tied a bit of string around the screw so it could be hung.

I bought a couple My Littlest Pet Shop spiders off Ebay for Alexis to play with it, but you can get plastic spiders at craft stores or party stores and use those if you want.  Alexis has hung it up on her My Littlest Pet Shop houses as her baby spiders' home.  So fun!

(If you don't want to make a spider web, this is also a fun craft to use different colored string with to make a pretty hanging ornament.)
