I taught preschool for four years and I used to make "stained glass" crosses at Easter with my class. The idea is simple and easy to accomplish and much fun for kiddos. You take some clear contact paper and tape it to a table with the sticky side up. Then you provide little cut out squares of tissue paper for your little one to put on the contact paper. Here are some shots with Alexis putting on the tissue paper:
After your little one has finished putting on the tissue paper, cut another piece of contact paper the same size as the one with the paper on it (contact paper has measure markings so you can get two equal sizes of paper). Stick the two contact paper pieces sticky side together. If you have an older little one, she can cut a shape out of the paper if she wants. We just left the paper a giant square. Hang your finished project in a window and enjoy your "stained glass"! Here is Alexis' finished product:
It looks even prettier in person with the sun shining through it! Best of all, Alexis had a blast sticking the tissue paper to the paper and just sprinkling on the paper and smacking it onto the contact paper. Fun and easy craft to add some color to a long day!
